This event was held at Pukekohe Park Raceway on the 22nd of January 2003 by the Pukekohe car club.  Two of our drivers,  Troy and Sean attended the event using our primary vehicle,  ME8579,  to compete.  The event entry and setup was well organised,  unfortunately the event did not  use the entire track.  Instead the track was split into two parts with each being used by seperate groups at the same time.  There were no diagrams or maps of the two circuits used and the reccy run confused our two drivers who had not been to the event previously.  This lead to Sean going the wrong way on his first run,  and slower initial times for Troy while he tried to get past his confusion.

Our vehicle was clearly out classed,  with many of the vehicles being either fully race prepped or serious street cars,  usually with upgraded components,  such as bigger brakes.  It was nice to see such an array of machinery,  as well as a small number of cars equivelant to ours.

Sean still proved to be our fastest driver,  however Troy was only 0.29 seconds behind him overall.  Unfotunately both of our drivers made basic mistakes,  including repeatedly locking up the brakes which is not something they have done before even at the other bent sprints we have attended.

Overall we enjoyed the event,  although we were disappointed that we were not able to drive the entire track as we had thought.  We are also seriously considering whether or not we will attend the next event in the series,  as the combination of time off work and the $50 entry fee (higher than other events we attend) are causing some concern to our drivers.

The car performed well,  although once the event was over we did have some trouble getting it restarted.  We believe this is a continuation of the heat problems we experienced previously with another starter motor.  Changing the rear shoicks has significantly improved the cars handling,  however the front shocks are also in desperate need of replacement.  This makes the car fight the driver (through the steering wheel) almost constantly.

Thanks goes to the Pukekohe Car Club for holding the event and to Metal Man Recyclers,  Kymes Bike Park,  InstantLawn,  CJS Services,  and VTNZ for sponsoring the series.
